Bhandaripokhari: A migrant labourer from Nuapada district was found dead with his throat slit near a brick kiln at Jashotikiri village under Bhandaripokhari police limits in Bhadrak district Monday.
The naked body of Bishnu Rout (24), son of Kshyama Rout of Dharambandha village in Nuapada district, was found lying at a place about 500 metres from their place of living. The incident has triggered shockwaves in the area.
According to sources, Bishnu was working at a local brick kiln near Baitarani riverbank since November last year along with his elder brother Shankar Rout and his sister-in-law. The matter came to the fore after Bishnu’s brother Shnakar Rout lodged a complaint with the local police.
A police team led by sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Prabhakar Pattnaik and IIC Nabakrushna Nayak started an investigation. Later, a forensic team and sniffer dogs were pressed into service.
A denim trouser, a jacket and a torch were found lying near the body. Preliminary investigation failed to crack the reason behind the murder or trace the accused.
When asked, Shankar denied having any knowledge about the killing as he was asleep in another room along with his wife and children while Bishnu was sleeping with two other labourers in a separate room near the brick kiln. PNN
