Malkangiri: Launching a crackdown on drug peddlers in the district, the Border Security Force (BSF) officials seized around 100 kg of ganja and arrested three persons in Chitrakonda cut-off area in this district Saturday morning.
They have been identified as Sunil Mishra, Nanda Kumar Dwivedi and Amit Pandey, all residents of neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.
A team of BSF patrolling party waylaid a Bolero on suspicion of carrying the banned drug near Gurupriya Bridge in the morning.
After conducting a search of the vehicle they found several packs of ganja kept in it and seized them. All three who were boarding the vehicle were taken into custody and later handed over to Chitrakonda police.
Police said the seized ganja consignment which would cost in lakhs was being sent to Madhya Pradesh.
Interrogation of the held accused is underway to map out the next course of action, it added.
