BSKY Nabin Card application deadline extended; know how to apply

Bhubaneswar: The deadline for application of BSKY Nabin Card has been extended till February 8 by the Odisha government, a source said Monday.

Notably, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik December 29, 2023 launched the third phase of the state’s flagship free health coverage scheme – Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).

While launching the ‘BSKY Nabin Card’, Patnaik said that families left out in the first two phases of BSKY, would be covered in the third phase.

Notably, the application process for the BSKY Nabin Card shall begin January 6, 2024 and continue till January 16, 2024.

Here are the complete details you need to know.

Who will benefit?

According to the official notification, to qualify for registration under the BSKY Nabin scheme, all family members must meet the following criteria:

  • Residing in rural areas.
  • No family member should be an income taxpayer during FY 2022-23.
  • No family member should be a regular government employee or government pensioner.
  • No family member should be part of the existing BSKY beneficiaries/ Ration Card holder.

Benefits:

Beneficiaries with BSKY Nabin Card are entitled to get cashless treatment for identified critical diseases (heart diseases, kidney diseases, liver diseases, brain stroke, severe head injury, brain tumour, burns management, nerve or muscle diseases and cancer) at all empanelled private hospitals inside as well as outside Odisha.

BSKY Nabin Card will provide cashless treatment of Rs 5 lakh per annum per family and an additional Rs 5 lakh for women members of the family.

Documents required for registration: 

  • Registration should be done in the name of the ‘Head of Family’ (HoF).
  • Any members above the age of 18 can apply for BSKY-Nabin scheme on behalf of family.
  • The applicant must have an Aadhaar card, linked with an active mobile number.
  • Aadhaar-based e-KYC (Know your consumer) is mandatory for the applicant.
  • Voter ID card (EPIC card) for all family members above 18 years of age.
  • The applicant and HoF must have valid mobile numbers to receive important communications.
  • Recent photographs of the applicant as well as HoF (or captured directly by the system).
  • Aadhaar card of all family members, including children under five years.
  • In case Aadhaar card of children under five years is not available, an undertaking must be submitted to provide Aadhaar card number by June 30, 2024.

How to apply: 

The eligible family can apply for BSKY Nabin Card in two different modes.

  • Self-registration: Applicant can visit www.bskynabin.odisha.gov.in and do self-registration. Applicant may take help of helpdesk support for technical assistance.
  • Mo-Seva Kendra: Applicant can visit the nearest Mo-Seva Kendra (MSK centre) to apply for BSKY-Nabin Card without paying any registration fees.

All applications are to be made online only. There will be no offline receipt of applications.

When to apply: The registration portal at www.bskynabin.odisha.gov.in will remain open from January 6 to January 16, 2024.

It can be mentioned here that BSKY Nabin Card holders will get cashless coverage for certain critical illnesses at empanelled private hospitals with effect from May 1, 2024. The BSKY card, however, covers both critical and non-critical illnesses.

Notably, the BSKY scheme is being expanded in phases so that there is timely service delivery and optimal utilisation of public and private health facilities, the notification read. In subsequent phases of expansion, it informed that urban families and other left-out categories including government servants and pensioners will be covered under BSKY.
