Bhubaneswar: Shubham Acharya, a Bhubaneswar boy brought laurels to Orissa by emerging topper in the Bhubaneswar region in Class XII examination, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 2016.
“Shubham, a student of Mother’s Public School, Bhubaneswar, has secured 98.40 per cent marks in this year’s CBSE Class XII examination and is the topper in Bhubaneswar region comprising Orissa, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh,” claimed LN Meena, regional director of CBSE, Bhubaneswar.
Shubham who is preparing to sit the Indian Institute Science (IIS) examination Sunday informed
Orissa POST that he intends to become an entrepreneur.
“It is a very special moment for me although I didn’t expect beyond 95 per cent marks. I think this is the result of my hard work and support from my family and teachers,” Shubham said.
Interestingly, Sandeep Pattanayak of Sai International School, also from the capital city secured second position in the state and third position the Bhubaneswar region.
Similarly, Adyasha Chakravarty of Delhi Pubic School secured third position in the state and fourth position in the region.
The CBSE claimed that 13566 candidates from Orissa sat the Class XII examination out of which 7971 were boys and 5595 girls. However, the overall pass percentage of the state stands at 86.39 and the state secured a second position in the Bhubaneswar region.
