Loisingha: A 13-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by another minor following an argument over a card game at Rot village under Agalpur police limits in Balangir district Wednesday.
The deceased, Sahil Patel, son of Ramesh Patel, was a Class VIII student. Police detained a Class VII student in connection with the incident and registered a case.
According to the complaint lodged by the father of the deceased, Sahil and three other boys were playing cards at a clubhouse near the village upper primary school at about 11 am.
An argument broke out between Sahil and Rahul (name changed) during the game. Rahul allegedly threatened Sahil before leaving for home.
He later returned with a sharp weapon and allegedly attacked Sahil on his chest.
Sahil collapsed at the spot. His father rushed him to Agalpur Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead.
Police seized the body and sent it to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir for post-mortem. Sub-inspector Sarbeswar Sahu said further investigation is underway.
