Athagarh: A casual labourer allegedly died of sunstroke at Radhaballavpur (Sholagharia) village near this town in Cuttack district Wednesday.
He was identified as Gokulananda Nayak (47) in the village. He returned home from Athagarh Bazaar and collapsed on his verandah. Family members rescued him in critical condition and rushed him to Athagarh hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case in this connection.
His kin would be provided with compensation as per government norms if the post-mortem report indicates heatstroke as the reason behind his death , sub-collector Amiya Kumar Sahoo and tehsildar Binod Kumar Jena said.
