Cuttack: The official website of Orissa Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) – www.ossc.gov.in – was hacked from Philippines Wednesday morning.
A case has been registered with the cyber police station of the state Crime Branch in this regard. Acting on the complaint, the CB registered a case and began a probe into the matter.
An emergency meeting has been called at OSSC office to deal with the situation and take steps to prevent such incidents of cyber attack. The website has temporarily been put under suspension. The website was hacked by Cyber Syndicate, an institution in Philippines, which left a message on the homepage of OSSC.
“Good day, Mr. Administrator, we hacked your website security to deliver a message. We are Philippine Cyber Syndicate. We fight for freedom and equality. We hate government corruption. We stand as one to protect the cyber world against abusive people using our skills in hacking. Consider this as a warning,” the message reads.
A logo of an organisation with a tagline ‘Anonymous …We are Legion’ is seen on the website.
Special DG (CB) Bijay Kumar Sharma said a team of inspector rank officials has been formed and the team has launched a thorough probe into the matter. “The hacking of the government websites has raised a serious concern in the state. We are investigating the case seriously,” Sharma added.
Notably, the websites of Berhampur RTO, Bayababa College and Orissa Environment Congress, a private organisation, were earlier hacked by anonymous hackers. Besides, the official website of the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology was also hacked in January this year. However, Tarini Prasad Samantray, a 2nd year student of computer science in ITER College, confessed that he had hacked the website as a part of practical work.
