Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here Monday denied bail to Pravat Das, brother of Seashore group of companies chief Prashant Das, in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam.
The rejection came after the court heard the arguments of CBI counsel Kali Charan Mishra and Pravat’s counsel Bijay Kumar Kar. Earlier, the Central agency had arrested Pravat January 24 for allegedly embezzling funds to the tune of `3 crore. Sources said `3 crore was transferred to Pravat’s accountant and according to CBI investigations the funds were misappropriated by Prashant’s brother.
However, Pravat denied that he had done anything wrong. “I don’t have any involvement in the misappropriations,’’ he claimed.
