Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday questioned Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal’s wife Laxmi Bilasini in connection with her alleged complicity in the multi-crore ponzi scam by Seashore Group.
This comes after CBI officials had issued fresh notices to Bilasini and asked her to furnish additional documents in connection with Seashore Group chit fund scam investigation.
After coming out of the CBI office here, Bilasini told reporters that the Central agency had asked her to submit some documents related to her land deals with Seashore.
“CBI on a couple of occasions has asked me to submit the documents related to the land deal with Seashore,” she said.
Interestingly, Bilasini also revealed that the CBI is asking for the original documents of the money she had taken from Seashore, but she doesn’t have those documents.
“I had signed an agreement with Seashore group when I had taken money from the firm. But, I don’t have the original documents of the agreement,” she said.
Sources said CBI officials were investigating whether Bilasini returned all the money belonging to Seashore or she retained some of it with her.
Earlier, the central agency had quizzed the Cuttack-Choudwar MLA and his wife in November 2014.
The MLA and his wife were reportedly questioned regarding a land deal they had with Seashore.
Pravat’s wife, who is a former zilla parishad chairperson of Cuttack, had earlier said Seashore had given her a cheque of `15 lakh and another of `10 lakh in April 2012 following which the land sale deal was finalised, but it is yet to be registered.
However, she had then said Seashore officials had asked her to return the money as they were not interested in the 1.25 acre land at Benapur in Jajpur district. She has also claimed the money was returned to Seashore in July 2012.
