Bhubaneswar: The members of the civil society group, Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan, Sunday demanded a CBI probe into Daru ‘fixing’ as the state government had failed to investigate it properly. The group in a presser at the Nehru Yuva Kendra in Unit-6 area questioned the role of an ex-law minister and a noted educationist of the state in the ‘fixing’ of Daru. The group also asked the government to make the Ghata Parivartan fiasco report public.
The group coordinator, Pradeep Kumar Pradhan, said, “the stand of the opposition parties and their misleading arguments on both the issues have mystified the matter further amidst the tense political atmosphere. Both the issues have hurt the sentiments of crores of devotes and also violated the sanctity of the Jagannath temple.”
Meanwhile, the group dismissed the allegations made by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bijaya Mahapatra, who alleged that Suersh Mohapatra, the ex- Chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), has not investigated the Ghata Parivartan fiasco properly. The group urged the state government to make that report public so that the common devotees of the state would get a clear picture.
The group also expressed its dissatisfaction over the delay in completing the probe into the fiasco of missing key of Jagnnath temple treasury (Ratna Bhandar). The group alleged that the government is trying to brush aside the issue by delaying the probe into the matter. Recently, the government has extended the deadline to submit the investigation report for three more months as the commission probing the issue sought more time.
On the other hand, the members of the group also threatened to sit in protest for indefinite period in front of the CBI office here from November 26 demanding quick submission of probe report into the multi-crore chit fund scam. The members urged all the political parties to refrain from making misleading comments to derail the probe.
