Rayagada, April 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the Tikiri sikhya sahayika Itishree Pradhan
immolation case, is likely to file the status report with the Supreme Court (SC) April 28.
The SC had directed the apex investigating agency to conduct probe in the sensational immolation case of Itishree. Giving its ruling on a petition in last week of January, the SC had directed the agency to constitute a special team to probe the matter and submit its report within a month. However, the agency had later urged the court to give some more time to it for the submission of the report.
Within last three months, the agency has interrogated 43 persons. However, it has so far not quizzed Netrananda Dandasena who was regarded as the main accused of the case. The CBI is yet to make any arrest in connection with the case during the period. However, the CBI recently made some new revelations regarding Itishree’s immolation.
The investigating officials claimed that several persons had deposited money in the bank account of Itishree just a few days before her death. The agency further claimed to have identified those persons who had transferred money to Itishree’s account and most of them are traders. It has started quizzing these traders and is trying to know the reasons for which they had deposited money in her account.
This apart, CBI also claimed that it has received video CDs containing footage of Itishree recording her statement before the doctor and other officials. But, the CBI officials expressed doubt over the whole matter after they noticed in the videos that the doctors were frequently asking Itishree to record her statement instead of providing treatment to her. Suspecting that the doctors might be under pressure to do so, the agency officials are trying to know the reasons for which Itishree was asked to record her statement when she was not even in a condition to speak.
Meanwhile, the CBI sleuths Thursday met a security official of JK Paper Mill at JKPur. However, they did not reveal the topic which they discussed with the paper mill official.
