Cuttack: In a jolt to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Orissa High Court (HC) Monday asked the students who had moved the court seeking re-evaluation of Class XII answer-sheets to file contempt of court case against the CBSE.
Sources said, in line with an earlier directive of the HC, the CBSE Monday submitted the copies of the Class XII answer-sheets. However, a few of the students alleged that the copies were not re-evaluated by the Board despite HC directive. Expressing displeasure, Justice SN Prasad has directed the students to file a contempt of court case against the CBSE.
According to sources, several petitions were filed with the HC over allegations of massive discrepancies in the evaluation of Class XII answer-sheets.
Taking up the petitions, the HC had directed the CBSE authorities to get the answer-sheets of 159 students re-evaluated and come up with results. However, challenging the HC ruling, the CBSE filed a writ appeal petition in the court. The CBSE authorities have informed the HC that there are no provisions in the CBSE for re-evaluation of answer scripts.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved students opposed it. Sources said, Hamilton Mohanty, a student of Central School in Balasore, had approached the HC with a writ petition. Taking note of multiple writ petitions, the HC had directed the CBSE authorities last June 23, to submit the re-evaluated answer-sheets along with a report in this regard. Advocate Subhranshu Bhusan Mohanty argued on behalf of the petitioner, Hamilton Mohanty.
