Gopalpur: A Central team visited Ganjam district Thursday and took stock of the damage caused by cyclonic storm Titli.
The seven-member team led by SK Sahil, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, and comprising Chief Engineer, Bandana Singhal, of Ministry of Power, Superintending Engineer Susant Kumar Samal, Rakesh Kumar, Birendra Singh, Director, Agriculture, GR Jagar and RB Kaul of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, arrived at the Rangeilunda airstrip in morning where Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange welcomed them.
The team held a discussion with the Collector and other senior officials on the impact of the cyclone at the Berhampur University guesthouse.
Later, the team visited Patrapur, Purussotampur and Aska blocks in the district and made an assessment of the damage caused to agriculture, school infrastructure, roads and other losses due to the cyclonic storm.
The Collector said a report which they would submit to the state government on crop loss, damage to educational institutions, roads and buildings will also be submitted to the Central team.
A report on rescue, evacuation and rehabilitation of the people during the calamity will also be submitted to the Central team, the Collector added.
When contacted, Joint Secretary Sahil said they will prepare a report on their visit to the affected areas and submit it to the Union Government.
Additional District Magistrate Bijay Dash, project director Sabyasachi Hota, Rangeilunda BDO Kumar Nagbhushan, additional tehsildar Ramesh Behera, Gopalpur IIC Susant Kumar Sahu and other officials were present during the visit of the Central team.
