Puri, Oct 21: ChildLine officials accompanied by a team of Government Railway Police and Kumbharpada police Tuesday rescued a three-month-old boy whom his mother had allegedly sold for `3,000.
The baby has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital in accordance with the direction of district child welfare committee (CWC) chairman Siddhartha Ray.

“We will counsel the child’s mother and take a decision on his future custody later. The person accused of purchasing the child has submitted a written undertaking to cooperate with the police investigation,” Ray said.
Meanwhile, Behera has stated that he had not bought the child. “The child was found lying in a critical condition near the railway station. Some passengers urged my sister to look after the child,” he said.
