post news network, Bhubaneswar, May 7: All the students of the state who have got above 94 per cent in the HSC examination -2015, will be felicitated May 11, announced Pujya Puja Pratibha Parishad, a non-profit association, Thursday, while celebrating the Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti in the city.
The 154th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate, Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated at the Buddha Mandir in city, Thursday.
“The 94th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter and social activist Bhabani Charan Patnaik is ahead. We have decided to felicitate those students who have scored above 94 per cent marks in his Jayanti. The felicitation ceremony will be held at this same place,” said Padmakar Guru, national president of the association that organised the Tagore Jayanti.
Bimalendu Mohanty, former vice-chancellor of the Utkal University of Culture, while speaking on the occasion, inspired the audience, especially the youths among it. “Tagore had incomparable lifestyle. Because of his hard work and dedication, he achieved success and became one of the laureate poets of the world. I suggest all young people to follow this national icon to become a successful person in the future. Our people are adopting western culture; the present generation should come forward in order to preserve our culture and heritage,” said Mohanty.
Those who attended the event included former ambassador of India Abasar Beuria, political leader Niranjan Patnaik and freedom fighter Dolagobinda Pradhan.
