Daringbadi: A Class IX student Wednesday fell unconscious and collapsed on the ground during the Independence Day celebration on the premises of Simanbadi Upgraded High School under this block in Kandhmal district.
The student, identified as Deepakpati Nayak, was rushed to the nearest community health centre, and is undergoing treatment.
He is yet to regain consciousness, according to the latest reports.
Following the direction of the state government, the school did not hold any parade. However, students, teachers, parents and villagers assembled to hear the speech of Amita Pradhan, who was the chief guest. Though it was drizzling earlier in the morning, the weather became sunny during the celebration.
Deepakpati’s mother said the boy had not taken food in the morning and was weak too.
Notably, the celebration was observed for the first time at the panchayat level on the school premises.
