Balangir: Tension ran high in Budhipadara village after a minor boy was killed in a road accident on NH-26 Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Suvendu Nanda, a Class X student of Nuagaon High School.
Sources said Suvendu was standing on the road when he was hit by a speeding car at around 6 PM Saturday. Following the incident, locals managed to nab the car driver while he was trying to escape from the spot.
Irate locals blocked the National Highway demanding of compensation of Rs. 10 lakh for the family of the deceased.
The normalcy was restored after senior officials including Loisingha Tehsildar assured to look into the demands of the agitators.
Meanwhile, two persons including the driver of the car have been detained while further investigation in connection with the incident.
