CM pushes for recruitments

Bhubaneswar, May 28: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who had ordered the filling of 40,000 vacancies at various state departments, has now asked officials to expedite the recruitments for those posts.
Patnaik, who reviewed the progress of the recruitment process Wednesday, said the departments must take proactive steps to remove hurdles in the filling up of these vacancies.
The CM directed Chief Secretary GC Pati to hold video conferences with district collectors and take steps for filling up vacancies at the district-level.
All concerned departments have been asked to coordinate with state-run recruitment bodies such as Orissa Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) and Orissa Public Service commission (OPSC) to for filing these posts at the earliest.
Of 24,388 posts in the school and mass education department, 8,246 posts have been filled and of 6,260 vacancies in the health and family welfare department, 2,232 posts have been filled. Of 11,093 vacant posts in the SC/ST department, 3,443 posts have been filled.
OPSC recently published advertisements seeking applications for filling 682 Group A, 518 Group B and 232 Group C posts in different departments.
Likewise, OSSC has also filled Group B and Group C 1,102 posts. The Commission has initiated the process for filling up another 2,632 posts. OPSC has begun filling 103 posts in Group A, 643 in Group B and 2208 in Group C cadres.
In an earlier meeting held in this regard, the CM had directed concerned departments to consult with the advocate general on disposal of cases pertaining to recruitments which are currently sub-judice.
