Bhubaneswar, May 15: The state government has urged the Centre to expedite ongoing infrastructure projects in the state.
The move comes after the recent video-conference of Modi with all state chief secretaries in which he had taken stock of infra projects in states and has also asked chief ministers to inform him regarding their timely implementation.
The Chief Minister said projects undertaken by the Railways, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and other Central PSUs are required to be expedited for their timely completion.
Sources said the CM has also urged the PM to direct authorities in concerned ministries to ensure completion of four-laning of Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway-203 and doubling of Bhubaneswar-Puri railway line in view of the ensuing Nabakalebara festival.
The CM has informed that many infrastructure projects being implemented by the ministries and Central PSUs could be fast-tracked with mobilisation of additional resources, manpower, greater budgetary allocations, timely deposit of charges and timely procurements.
Sources said the CM has also pointed out that for smooth implementation of major projects, a Project Monitoring Group (PMG) has been constituted by the state government.
The CM has also apprised Modi about several other projects in oil, power and road sectors.
