CMC changes business hours of Cuttack Malgodown

Cuttack: Following a decision by local traders’ association, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) authorities issued a notification Wednesday thereby changing the usual business hours of Malgodown.

Accordingly, traders selling non-essential commodities will be allowed to keep their respective shops open from 7am to 10am. Likewise, wholesale counters and shops of essential commodities can be opened from 10am to 2pm and retail shops therein from 2pm to 8pm. However, the Malgodown will remain closed every Wednesday.

CMC authorities had to decide proactively after several COVID-19 cases were detected from Behera Sahi area near Malgodown, official sources informed.

On the other hand, local rice traders’ association and retailers’ association led by Cuttack Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has of late conducted a sitting. Expressing its deep concern for the rapid spread of COVID-19, the CCC has imposed restrictions on its members.

Keeping in mind that COVID-19 cases in Telugu slum and Behera Sahi are on the rise, preventive measures like social distancing, wearing face masks and not allowing customers into shops were suggested.
