Rourkela: Days after a man died due to exposure to extreme cold in Daringbadi area of Kandhamal district, an elderly woman Sunday was reported dead due to bone-chilling cold in Rourkela.
She has been identified as Gurubari Barua of sector-5 Golghar here.
According to sources, Gurubari has no kin and used to live alone in a house. The matter came to fore after Gurubari did not come out of her house. Neighbours broke open the door and found her lying dead.
The body was taken to Rourkela government hospital where the post-mortem was conducted. The body was then handed over to neighbours who conducted the last rites.
The city has been reeling under extreme cold for the last few days. Normal life is hit as the mercury dips to 5-6 degree Celsius during nights. PNN
