Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions prevailed in most parts of Odisha from late Sunday night to Monday morning, with Sonepur town recording the season’s lowest temperature in the state at 11.4 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.
The IMD has forecast that similar conditions will prevail across the state for the next two to three days.
“Minimum temperatures across Odisha have witnessed a sharp dip. They were markedly below the normal at some places in North Interior and South Interior Odisha and the coastal parts of the state,” the IMD said in a bulletin.
Apart from Sonepur, the areas where temperatures dipped below15 degrees Celsius are Jharsuguda (13.4), Phulbani (14.3), and Talcher (14.6).
Shallow to moderate fog is likely to prevail at some places in south Odisha districts, the department said.
There is also a possibility of light to moderate showers in some parts of interior Odisha for two days from November 22, it said, adding the temperatures may further dip after the rain.
The department forecasted, “Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha”.
Dense fog is likely to prevail at some places in the south Odisha districts, the department said. The department also issued yellow warning in this connection.
Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the dist of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Keonjhar.
