Bargarh: A 20-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with her own dupatta at Pipilipali (Bandhapada) village on the outskirts of Bargarh town.
The deceased was identified as Pragati Behera. Her family members Friday morning rescued her from room and rushed her to Bargarh district headquarters hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Reports said after dinner all family members went to their respective rooms Thursday night. Pragati, who was a Plus III final year science student at Bargarh Women’s College, also went into her room. She did not come out of her room even after her routine rising time Friday morning. When she did not respond to repeated knocks, her family grew apprehensive and broke open the room.
After post mortem, the body was handed over to the family. While exact reason of the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, police have started investigation into it.
