Bhubaneswar: The BJP Monday termed Congress as an ally of the ruling BJD for which both were combining to attack the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and BJP chief Amit Shah.
“It is the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government, which is the custodian of Puri temple. It has failed to protect the property of Lord Jagannath. How could they ensure safety of properties of people?” asked state BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma.
“If we point out it they say it is politics. What are they doing now? Is it not playing politics over the issue?” the BJP leader asked the BJD.
“The government is engaging senior officers in charge of the temple. It is a wonder how such incidents are happening in the temple. If it had happened with the property of any person, the culprits would have been booked,” Sharma said.
Attacking the state Congress chief, the BJP leader said, “Who is he to speak for the people of the state? Whatever verdict they will give, it will be known during elections.”
The people of this state have already given a lot of chance to the Congress, he said, adding, “What did the party do for them? Still Odisha is a less developed state. Before pointing fingers at others, the Congress should think about itself.”
