Cop’s mutilated body recovered from rly line

Sundargarh: Police recovered the mutilated body of an assistant sub-inspector of police lying under mysterious circumstances near the Jharsuguda-Rourkela railway tracks near here Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Dushmant Bagh, an ASI in Dharuadihi police station.
Bamra Government Railway Police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem in the presence of officials of Dharuadihi police station.

Preliminary inquiries although failed to ascertain the exact reason behind his death injuries on his stomach, knees and other body parts and burn injuries on his right legs were indicative of murder. Police noticing the burn injuries also suspected that he might have been electrocuted after hitting a utility police near the railway tracks.

According to Dharuadihi police station IIC Menaka Rout, Bagh joined as an ASI in the police station July 13. He was an alcoholic and used to remain in an inebriated condition most of the time. He left for Sundargarh August 4 to attend duty with the reserve police and returned to Dharuadihi Sunday.

He was found moving in the area in the morning but his body was found in afternoon near the railway tracks, the IIC said. PNN
