Cuttack: The commissionerate police Tuesday took the Dhalasamanta brothers on a seven-day remand to further interrogate them about the brutal murder of Dipu and Om, their former associates.
Police also took Debasish Kar, one of the alleged main accomplices of the criminal siblings, on remand for interrogation about the twin murders. This is the third time the Dhalasamanta brothers are on a police remand since their arrest last month.
The gangster brothers – Sushil Dhalasamanta and Sushant Dhalasamanta – and three of their accomplices – Debaish, Bhajana alias Sanjay Sahu and Gudu alias Debasish Sahu – were produced in the sub-divisional judicial magistrate’s court here amid tight security Tuesday.
The court allowed police to take the Dhalasamanta brothers and Debasish on remand while Bhajana and Gudu were sent to jail. “Police have elicited some crucial clues from Litua alias Bharat Behera and the criminal siblings about the murder of Dipu. Police will interrogate the trio as to why Om was murdered and other angles of the two murders,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Sanjeev Arora.
A face-to-face interrogation of the Dhalasamanta brothers and their associates is also likely soon to confirm many details gathered about the gangster siblings’ criminal empire and their illegal financial transaction, said police sources. PNN
