Balasore, Jan 28: Police Wednesday took Iswar Behera, who has recently been arrested on the charges of passing defence-related information to Pakistan’s ISI, on a seven-day remand. However, the police had earlier intended to take him on a 14-day remand.
Chandipur police station IIC has applied for remand of Iswar at the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistarte’s court at 11 am through government counsel Arun Kumar Behera. Adjudicating the case, SDJM Minakhi Priyadarshini remanded Iswar to police for seven days.
Following this, SDPO PC Badjena went to Balasore jail and took Iswar on remand amid tight security. The police expect to deepen the investigation to ferret out more facts about any other persons involved in anti-national activities.
Iswar was arrested January 22 after police found him allegedly sending information and pictures of the Interim Test Range (ITR), Chandipur to Pakistan’s ISI. Iswar was working as a contractual video photographer in ITR. The police after his arrest had claimed that he was tracked for some time and based on some evidences, the arrest was made.
