Cuttack: Many corporators of the city allegedly had good relationship with the Dhalasamanta brothers who have been arrested by the commissionerate police (CP) recently, according to sources.
The Dhalasamanta brothers had donated huge sums to these corporators during the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) polls, according to sources. The brothers had also sponsored the tours of a few corporators who visited a few places outside the state.
Police have also collected information indicating that a few corporators were regular participants in all the cultural and social functions organised by the Dhalasamanta brothers.
The commissionerate police has launched an investigation to find out the names of the corporators who were in close contact with the Dhalasamanta brothers, sources said. Police officials are also trying to ascertain the benefits the brothers got from the corporators.
The police have got the names and phone numbers of several politicians, senior police officials and contractors in the diary and mobile phones seized from Sushant Dhalasamanta and Sushil Dhalasamanta, according to the police. “We are hopeful of collecting more information on the siblings’ political and high-profile links from the seized diary and mobile phones,” said a senior police official.
Deputy commissioner of police Sanjeev Arora said they are trying to collect detailed information on the political links of the Dhalasamanta brothers. PNN
