Ganjam: The Ganjam district administration has adopted another pro-active step to win the battle against the invisible enemy of coronavirus by planning to launch a door-to door ‘Oxygen Checking Campaign’.
Ganjam district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, in a tweet, informed that for early detection and timely referral of symptomatic cases, door-to-door ‘Oxygen Checking Campaign’ will start from September 8 and continue till September 14.
The campaign is necessary to monitor SpO2 levels of all residents. He also informed that there are necessary logistical arrangements to shift patients to COVID hospitals.
In another tweet, he shared some information about the COVID-19 situation in the district. He said a total of 3,02,434 samples were collected till September 5. The district’s recovery rate now stands at 93.9 per cent.
Notably, the district reported more recoveries than new COVID-19 positive cases Sunday. While the number of new cases was 108, a total of 148 patients recovered from the infection.
As of now, the district’s tally stands at 18, 652. Of them, 17, 522 patients have been discharged from COVID hospitals and 918 patients are undergoing treatment. The disease has so far claimed 204 lives. At the same time, eight patients have died due to reasons other than COVID-19.
What is SpO2
SpO2 is also known as Oxygen saturation. It is a measurement of amount of Oxygen carrying hemoglobin in the blood compared to amount of hemoglobin not carrying Oxygen. The SpO2 of a healthy person should be between 94 per cent and 100 per cent.
