Covid-19 suspect dies by suicide in Ganjam district

Berhampur: A youth, who was undergoing treatment for respiratory problems at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here in Ganjam district, died by suicide in the wee hours of Monday. The youth identified as Rajendra Muni (38) hanged self from the window of the hospital toilet. He was a resident of Akalpur village in Bargarh district.

According to a source, when Muni was admitted to MKCGMCH his oxygen level had dropped to 35. His health condition had been deteriorating for the last three days. He was so weak that he was not able to walk properly. Sources said that acute depression may have forced him to commit the tragic act. However, questions are being asked as to why he was not kept under observation when his depression was a well-known fact. Also people are finding it strange that how can the youth who was barely able to walk could hang himself.

On being informed, police reached the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem. A detailed probe is underway, it was learnt.
