Tikiri: Passengers onboard the Koraput-Visakhapatnam DMU escaped an accident Tuesday, thanks to the presence of mind of two villagers near here in Koraput district.
Bhima Nayak and Balabhadra Nayak of Gooli village, after spotting a crack on the rail track, managed to stop the train between Gooli and Leliguma stations by waving red clothes. The loco pilot and track man examined the track and repaired it.
A major mishap could be averted due to the presence of mind of the villagers. The train was delayed by two hours before it continued its onward journey.
