Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: Credit growth continues to lag in the state with a measly 5.93 per cent rise during the first half of this financial year while deposits grew by 11.2 per cent during this period, a SLBC report said.
The banking system has also reported high non-performing asset (NPA) level of 9.34 per cent during April- September period.
As per the SLBC report, total Deposit by the end of September quarter stood at Rs 2,04,152.43 crore, while advances during this period were at Rs 1,44,417.82 crore. However, credit-deposit ratio of the banking system was in a relatively better position as per the SLBC report.
“The CD ratio of banks as a whole in the state was at 70.74 per cent. The banks which have not achieved the CD ratio of national parameter of 60 pc were advised to achieve the same in the coming quarter,” it said. Meanwhile, the percentage of priority sector advances to total advance is at 64.45 pc against the national parameter of 40 pc.
Giving an account of new accounts opened under Jan Dhan Yojana, the report said 68.60 lakh savings bank deposit accounts have been opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. “Total deposit balance in PMJDY accounts was Rs 616.96 crore by the end of September. Percentage of zero balance account to total no of accounts opened is at 37.29 per cent,” the report said. By November 2, 2015, banks have disbursed Rs 673 crore in 1,38,773 MUDRA accounts under Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), it added.
