Rajnagar: A person was injured in crocodile attack at Balichandrapur village under Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district Thursday.
The victim, 50-year-old Bhagabat Rout, was first admitted at Rajnagar community health centre, and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The incident happened when Bhagabat was taking a bath at the bathing complex of the Brahmani river constructed by the Forest Department.
Bhagabat was caught completely unaware when the crocodile caught his left hand from behind. He cried for help, and luckily Bhagabat’s neighbour Baburam Mallick rushed to the former’s rescue.
Baburam started hitting the reptile with a stick and somehow it left Bhagabat and swam into deep waters.
Local residents alleged, such incidents are very frequent there because the walls of the bathing complex are broken.
