CS for speeding up of Smart City projects

Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over the slow pace of execution of some Smart City projects, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has asked the agencies concerned to expedite the process and complete the same on time.

Padhi Wednesday reviewed the progress of various projects of Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd (BSCL). He set deadlines for each project and directed the executing agencies to expedite the implementation of those. According to official sources, presently 29 projects are planned under two broad types of projects for the Smart City- PAN City Solution Projects and Area Based Development Projects.

Out of the 29 proposed projects, 20 projects are now under field level execution in different phases, while tenders for five other projects have been floated. After the feasibility study, tendering for the remaining projects are being prepared, the source said. The PAN city solution projects include five major projects like adaptive traffic signal control system, smart solution, public-bicycle sharing, common payment card and BBSR One.

The cost of these five projects under Pan City solution has been estimated to be around Rs 786 crore, they said. Similarly, the government has earmarked Rs 3,170 corer for other 20 projects planned under Area Based Development.

The projects include multi level car parking at Rajmahal and Sahid Nagar, railway station multi modal hub, social equity center, Smart Janpath, underground cabling, e-waste management, sensory park, socially smart etc.
