Cuttack face Keonjhar in final

Cuttack, March 20: Cuttack and Keonjhar beat their respective opponents in contrasting styles to enter the final of the Inter-District Women’s cricket tournament. In the semifinals played here Friday, Cuttack beat Bolangir by four wickets while Keonjhar trounced Bhubaneswar by six wickets.

 

At the Ravenshaw Ground-I, batting first Bolangir scored 149 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs with Sarita Meher (68) hitting a half century. Madhusmita Behera (3/12) bowled well for Cuttack. In reply, Cuttack scrambled home in 49.2 overs for the loss of six wickets.

 

Meanwhile at the SCB Medical College Ground an all-round effort by Purnima Ray (four wickets and an unbeaten 51) spurred Keonjhar to victory.

(At Ravenshaw Ground-I): Bolangir 149/9 (Sarita Meher 68; Madhusmita Behera 3/12) lost to Cuttack 152/6 by four wickets.

(At SCB Ground): Bhubaneswar 133 (Priyanka Priyadarsini Sahu 93; Purnima Ray 4/27) lost to Keonjhar 134/4 (Purnima Ray 51 n o; Sujata Mallick 3/28) by six wickets.
