Cyclone ‘Yaas’ CM to hold review meeting Saturday afternoon 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will convene a review meeting Saturday afternoon to take stock of the situation relating to cyclone ‘Yaas’. He will also discuss with officers regarding preparation in place in coastal districts.

In this virtual meeting chaired by the CM, chief secretary, special relief commissioner, district Collectors and SPs of coastal districts are to take part.

Meanwhile, the state government has already started taking measures to ensure minimal damage to properties and deal with the post cyclonic situation. Presently, meetings involving administrative officers are being held to review preparedness.

The regional centre of India Meteorological Department here has sounded ‘yellow warning’ for coastal districts. These districts are very likely to experience heavy downpour accompanying with squally wind from May 25. The fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea, informed weather expert Umashankar Dash.

Meanwhile, the meteorological centre here Saturday informed in a tweet that a low pressure area has formed over eastcentral Bay of Bengal Saturday morning.

“A #Low pressure area has formed over eastcentral BoB today morning. To intensify into a CS by #24th May. To intensify further into Very Severe Cyclonic Storm, move north-northwestwards and cross West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha & Bangladesh coasts around 26th evening,” read the tweet.
