Sundargarh: Lahunipada police Wednesday arrested and court forwarded a dacoit in Sundargarh district.
The accused has been identified as Md Yubed (21) of Muslimpada in Bonai.
Acting on a tip-off that some burglars were planning a theft at Gamaleihat near Lahunipada, the police raided the spot.
While the accused was nabbed, others managed to escape.
Three motorbikes, two pistols, two torch lights, plastic rope and masks were seized from the spot, reports said.
“The dacoit gang comprises 9-10 persons. Earlier, the gang had committed many minor and major thefts in the area. They also allegedly collected extortion money from businessmen at Gamaleihat after threatening them at gunpoint,” said Lahunipada police station IIC Manoranjan Pradhan.
