Keonjhar: Scores of labourers in several villages of Keonjhar district have alleged that wages have not been cleared by the forest department even though they had worked in Naranpur section of Keonjhar forest range months ago.
Over 500 people of Dhenkikote, Dhogotha, Nunajharan and other villages were engaged in the work for 15 to 20 days. Angry over the delay in clearing their wages, these people staged protests against the department in front of the DFO’s office Tuesday.
“When we demanded our wages, the forester always said there was shortage of funds. The forester has been transferred meanwhile,” the agitating people said. Not sure about availing their wages, they made a written complaint to the DFO seeking immediate action in this direction.
