Dama reiterates new party in offing

Bhubaneswar: Expelled BJD MLA Damodar Rout Wednesday reiterated a new regional party is in the making and the possibility of Baijayant Panda being on board.

The expelled MLA had made a similar statement about Baijayant and formation of a new party about a month ago. Panda, who is also an expelled member of BJD, is in favour of forming the new party, Dama claimed adding it would become a reality very soon.

“We are eager to have Baijayant in our new party. He is also interested to join us,” informed Dama Wednesday.

Baijayant – Dama alliance is, however, Dama’s version of political fiction that was crafted by him, but was refuted by Panda earlier. Panda had stated he would alone decide and speak about his next political move.

Observers are now waiting to hear from Baijayant whether he will refute the claim again or indicate any sincerity in Dama’s latest statement.

“To fight against corruption and bad governance, a party is soon to be floated. In this regard a meeting will be convened November 9 and 10. Any further detail about the new party will be made public November 11 and 12,” Dama informed.

On being asked about the need to form a new party, Dama said, it is to counter anything that is anti-Biju ideology.  He also hinted that he would suggest the new party be christened after Biju Patnaik. This regional party will not have any alliance with any party, he added.

Targeting the state government, Dama further said, “The government is throwing a spanner in the works and creating differences among us”.
