Louisville(US): A viral video claiming to show the fiery crash of a UPS cargo plane in Louisville, Kentucky (US), has surfaced on social media, capturing what appears to be the aircraft erupting into a massive fireball shortly after takeoff.

The video, purportedly filmed using the dashcam of a truck, shows flames on the plane’s left wing and a trail of smoke before the aircraft lifts briefly off the ground and crashes, triggering a huge explosion. Portions of a building’s shredded roof can also be seen near the end of the runway.

Authorities said at least seven people were killed and 11 others injured when the UPS cargo plane, a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 bound for Honolulu, crashed about 5:15 pm Tuesday while departing from UPS Worldport at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said the death toll was expected to rise and described the crash as “violent,” adding that several of those injured had “very significant” injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident, and the airport remained shut until Wednesday morning as emergency crews worked to secure the crash site.

UPS has suspended operations at its largest package-handling facility in Louisville, which employs thousands of workers and sorts more than 400,000 packages an hour.
