While a group-C encounter between Mother’s Public School (MPS) and SAI International School ended with the similar scoreline at the Unit-VI High School Ground here Wednesday.
DAV started off on an aggressive note and
deservingly got the early lead in the fifth minute when forwrad Partha Sarathi Padhy scored the opening goal of the match, exhibiting brilliant display of individual skill.
Tapoban then stepped up the gas and Nabin Hembram scored in the 33rd minute to bring the match on level terms.
After the change of ends, both teams tried to get the winning goal but failed to succeed as the defenders of both the outfits stood strong.
Hembram was adjudged the man of the match for his commendable presence in front of the opposition goal.
In another match, Sarthak Sarangi of MPS put his team ahead as early as the fourth minute with a sublime strike but SAI kept on attacking in waves and levelled the score when Abhisek Mohapatra deposited the ball in the back of the net in the 20th minute.
The game was exciting as both the teams registered a lot of shots on target but failed to score the all important goal.
SAI should have clinched the winner but for the brilliant saves of MPS custodian Jito Tension who single handedly ensured a point for his team.
Jito was justifiably adjudged the man of the match for his stellar saves in between the sticks.
