Odagaon: A deaf and dumb girl was allegedly raped by a married man at Sunamuhi panchayat under Odagaon police limits in Nayagarh district. Based on a complaint by the girl’s father, police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the accused who was absconding since the incident. He was identified as Akrur Nayak (32).
The incident occurred while the girl was alone in the house while her parents had gone out for work. Taking advantage of the loneness of the girl, Nayak barged into the house and forced himself on her. The victim narrated her ordeal to her father who lodged a complaint with the police Friday morning.
The victim was rescued and sent for medical examination. A probe is on and the accused will be arrested soon, IIC Anil Kumar Pradhan said.
