Bhubaneswar: Out of 300 to 400 samples that are being tested for dengue at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, around 50-60 cases are being detected positive on a daily basis, the Superintendent of the hospital informed Sunday.
According to a source from the hospital, as many as 393 individuals underwent dengue testing Saturday, with 61 of them testing positive.
The source informed that the hospital is receiving around 15 dengue patients every day. Nearly, 48 out of the total 50 designated beds are already occupied.
The source stated that as many as eight to nine patients with critical infections are being transfused with blood platelets each day.

Notably, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to deploy drones in order to curb the mosquito menace in the city.
The civic body has reportedly opted to slap a fine of Rs1,000 on residents if potential breeding sites for dengue mosquitoes are identified on their premises. Similarly, the fine for commercial establishments and institutions would amount to Rs5,000. The collection of fines from non-compliant households and establishments will commence August 15 onwards.
Moreover, the civic body Sunday brought out an initiative called Team SHINE (Sanitation and Hygiene Inspection for Neat Environment) with the objective to enforce cleanliness in the city.
