Development is everyone’s right: Naveen

Jajpur: “Be it in villages or towns, development is everyone’s right. To achieve this end, the state government has been fairly serving the people,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a meeting during a whirlwind tour of this district Friday.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a slew of projects in various parts of the district. Addressing a meeting at Panikoil College ground, Patnaik stated that it was due to the blessings of the people that he got an opportunity to serve the state.

“The state government is always striving to resolve the problems of people in each and every village in the state,” he said, adding a host of welfare programmes are being implemented to bring about a change in the living standards of people.

“Villages are the main focus of development. More and more funds are being provided to panchayats to carry forward development in villages. There will be no constraint of funds for development of rural areas. Our government believes that the state’s development lies in the development of villages,” the CM observed.

Patnaik also stated that his government has always laid thrust on the welfare and development of Dalits, tribals, youths, women, farmers and labourers.
MP Rita Tarai was all praise for the CM for taking up a slew of welfare measures for the people.

Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak, who presided over the meeting, launched a diatribe at the Centre, saying, “Despite neglect of the Central government, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been executing a number of pro-people measures and has never backtracked on the development of people. He is always happy over development of people.”
Nayak urged Patnaik to set up a 100-bed super specialty hospital in Korei.

Among the projects the Chief Minister inaugurated in the district were, a multi-purpose cyclone shelter at Ranpur, a drinking water project in Korei and several bridge projects and a 100-bed hostel for ST/SC students at BB College in Chandikhol.  PNN
