Keonjhar: Lack of mobile network in major tourist spots in Keonjhar district, well known for its scenic natural beauty, often disheartens visitors.
While thousands of tourists throng the district in huge numbers every year to witness the natural beauty, they seem to be unhappy over the lack of mobile networks.
At an age where every single person shares his/her bit of happiness and sorrow in the form of pictures and posts on social media, the lack of mobile network in the tourist spots is disheartening.
Some tourists complained they were compelled to leave earlier as the spots are devoid of mobile network. They cannot contact their family members and friends during their visit.
Some others complain that it felt insecure as in case of any problem or mishap, they could not contact anyone. On the other hand, there is hardly any police deployment in these places for which tourists feel insecure.
Handibhanga waterfall- a major scenic beauty in the district is a case in point. With the passing of every tourist season, the popularity of this spot is increasing manifold. The spot is thronged by hordes of visitors every day. The number goes up in the winter when picnickers make a beeline for this spot. They have nothing but one complaint: the place is devoid of mobile network.
“We are clicking some pictures of nature’s gifts, besides selfies. But when we want to share them with our friends and relatives, we cannot,” a visitor said. Locals said that if a mobile company came forward to provide its service in these areas, not just the visitors and nearby villagers will also benefit.
They have demanded setting up of high frequency mobile tower at some places including Khandadhar, Murga, Gundichaghagi and Gonasika.
