DGP help sought for smooth conduct of OTET

Bhubaneswar: The school and mass education (S&ME) department Monday requested director general of police (DGP) and all collectors to extend all possible support to ensure smooth completion of OTET and state open school certificate
examinations.
The Orissa Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) would be conducted November 23 this year while state open school certificate examination would be held November 22, sources said.
As many as 89,833 candidates will sit the OTET, which will be conducted mainly at district levels and at three sub-divisional headquarters. Similarly, 4,030 candidates have applied for the state open school certificate examination. Citing the example of cancellation of high school certificate (HSC) examination in 2012 following the incident of question paper theft from an examination centre in Puri, S&ME secretary Ranjana Chopra sought support from DGP KB Singh.
“In order to prevent reoccurrence of such an incident, adequate measures are required for smooth and peaceful conduct of OTET as well as the state open school certificate examination,” Chopra wrote to Singh.
The school and mass education secretary sought support from the collectors for dispatch of question papers to the exam centres ahead of the commencement of the examinations.
“Render all necessary assistance to the BSE regarding safety of question papers and maintenance of law and order at the examination centres to ensure smooth conduct of OTET examination,” she said in her letter.
Besides, the secretary requested the higher education department to give necessary instructions to the colleges where examination would be conducted.
