Joining them is Arun Krishnamurthy, environmental activist and founder of Environmentalist Foundation of India
Dr. Debabrata Swain, former PCCF and Lokayukta Odisha member, lauded all Dharitri Climate Grant applicants for their unwavering commitment to environmental action, calling them “green catalysts.” He also commended the Dharitri Climate Grant Jury, Editor of Dharitri and Orissa POST Tathagata Satpathy, and the organisation’s CEO, Adyasha Satpathy, for their dedicated efforts in fostering a greener environment. Swain emphasised that true recognition lies not in the selection, but in the sustained impact and effort of their work.
Coastal Conservationist Soumya Ranjan Biswal praised the platform and shared his journey, recalling how he first applied for the Dharitri Climate Grant and later went on to win it. He is now a member of the Jury Committee. He urged applicants not to be disheartened if their applications are rejected and encouraged them to strengthen their climate work.

Experts stress youth role in Odisha’s climate action
Meena Das Mohapatra, Odisha state head of the Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), said that Odisha faces natural calamities like cyclones, heatwaves and floods every year, so it is important for young minds to discuss these issues. As they are our future, their involvement in such discussions is essential.

Omm Priyadarshi Chhotaray, Managing Director of Celsius Foundation, said climate-related problems and awareness should be discussed in regional languages so that villagers can understand the issues and contribute to the solutions.

Dharitri and Orissa POST CEO Adyasha Satpathy addresses gathering
Adyasha Satpathy, CEO of Dharitri and Orissa POST, thanked all the participating environmentalists at the Green Heroes Summit. She expressed happiness at the enthusiasm of the new environmentalists, noting that the platform has created a dedicated space for environmentalists in Odisha. Satpathy added that it gives her great satisfaction to see all the environmentalists become like a family with the team. Many past Climate Grant winners, along with other environmentalists, have remained connected and in regular touch with the organisation. She emphasised that Dharitri’s recognition lies not in selection, but in the sustained impact and effort of their work.

Editor of Dharitri and Orissa POST Tathagata Satpathy opens Green Heroes Summit
As a pre-event to Dharitri Youth Conclave 2025, the Green Heroes Summit begins. Editor of Dharitri and Orissa POST, Tathagata Satpathy opens the session by underscoring the urgency of stronger climate action.
He said that sixty per cent of flying insects, including honeybees, have disappeared because of the overuse of pesticides and insecticides. This crisis shows why, along with academics, children must also be made aware of environmental realities. Only then can we shape a responsible generation and a safer future.
The environment is not just about welfare; it can also create sustainable livelihoods. Yet, for our own convenience, we have been harming the very ecosystems that support us. If we work toward a healthier environment today, our children will grow up needing less medical care, ultimately reducing healthcare costs, he added.
“Dharitri is giving Climate Grants to encourage individuals and groups working for climate betterment,” said Satpathy.
