Titlagarh: A 14-year-old differently-abled girl under Muribahal police limits in Bolangir district was allegedly impregnated by a worker of an Aahaar Centre at Titlagarh Sub-Divisional hospital following her rape four months back.
The matter came to the fore after the survivor accompanied by her family members met the Titlagarh Sub-Collector and lodged a complaint demanding stringent action against the accused person, Monday. Later, she lodged a complaint at the Titlagarh police station.
Meanwhile, police have detained the accused who has been identified as a worker of the Aahaar Centre distributing food to the patients. He is being questioned by the police in this connection. The BJP and Congress leaders in the area have demanded action against the accused and warned of an agitation if the victim fails to get justice.
Recently, a medical examination of the girl found her four months pregnant after she experienced frequent vomiting, January 16. The minor girl became pregnant following alleged rape by the accused. The incident has brought to the fore the ‘never-ending’ stories of sexual abuse of gullible women and young girls despite widespread outrage.
Reports said the victim visited the Titlagarh hospital four months back after her brother was admitted to the paediatric unit of the hospital for treatment of some ailment. There she stayed with him as an attendant and during that period a worker of the Aahaar Centre took her up to a toilet one night and raped her over there. The accused warned her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter before anybody.
