Dipsan attributes loss due to overconfidence

Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: Kalinga Lancers’ defender and Oriya player Dipsan Tirkey admitted Wednesday that their team conceded the last moment goals and lost the match against Uttar Pradesh Wizards because of overconfidence.
“We had little time to play out and we had to really control the match. May be we became a bit overconfident as we were leading 6-4,” Dipsan stated here Wednesday. “It’s a tough game and a very speedy one. Even a second can cost you dearly. So we have to be very careful till the last moment of the match,” he added.
Dipsan however, seemed determined to make amends for the loss. “We have already lost our first match. So the second game against Mumbai is pretty important for us. We are very much focussed and will play to a well-chalked out strategy. We have worked on our mistakes and don’t want to repeat it,” said the ‘Emerging Player’ of the last match.
Reacting to questions on the subdued body language of the Lancers’ players, Dipsan said that it may have happened due to the reverse in the last game. But he assured that his mates will be very positive when they take the field Thursday.
“We are not feeling any extra pressure for the match against Mumbai. We will play according to our strengths and hope for the best,” the affable guy concluded.
