Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Diptimayee Sahoo of Saraswati Sishu Vidyamandir here emerged champion in the School’s Rapid chess tournament here Friday. Diptimayee bagged seven points to bag the top honours.
Piyush Kumar Chinara of Stewart School emerged runner-up with six points in his kitty. Sumit Kumar of DAV, Pokhariput finished third with five points.
Seventy three players from 17 schools of the state participated in the tournament. Joining as chief guest, state tourism and culture minister Ashok Chandra Panda distributed the prizes.
Squad announced
Orissa Rugby Football Association announced a 23- member state squad Friday, for the All India Junior National Rugby Championship which will be played here October 19-23. Ganesh Chandra Hembram has been appointed captain of the team, while Ratnakar Hembram will be his deputy.
